Heat Embossed Floral Card

Today I bring you a card that I created to suit many different challenges, and even a class I’m enrolled in at Online Card Classes! It started off that I was going to enter Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge in which this week’s theme is flora and fauna. Then, I saw that Altenew’s July Inspiration Challenge involved an image and wedding theme. Altenew July Inspiration Challenge - Wedding Season! I decided that would be easy to do a card that works for both since I have a lot of Altenew floral layering stamps and love any chance I get to use them! As I started working on my card, Online Card Classes started up a new live class, Heat Wave. It has three days full of fab information and loads of tips and tricks to get the most out of your heat embossing and the different effects you can create with it. This card is based on the second day of class where we learned different mediums you can use with your heat embossing. Did you know that embossing powder will stick to water?? I sure didn’t! Mind blown. I have never used the water splatter effect (I know, technical term there, right?) on any card I’ve made, much less with embossing powder. I think I’m in love and will be using this technique in a lot more of my creations.

Beautiful Day Front

It was really hard to capture the lovely gold splatter effect – or the fact that all the stamped leaves are also embossed but I promise its there! Blame Ireland and its lack of sun so the lighting wasn’t great for taking pictures. For the leaves, I didn’t have green embossing powder so I used my Misti and stamped the leaves in Altenew Forest Glades. Then, I stamped again (right on top of the original stamped image) using Versamark ink. Sprinkled some clear embossing powder on top and there you go! One number embossed image in the colour of your choice!

    1. thanks so much! it was quite easy, just takes a bit longer to melt the powder so keep moving your heat gun if you don’t want your card to warp like mine did!
