Hello and welcome back, crafty humans! Today I have a 40th birthday card made using stencils and Distress Inks to create a festive card that you can give to pretty much anyone. These particular cards went to two men I know who recently had their 40th birthday parties so they were made “male-friendly” but a different colour combination can give you a look suited to your recipient – whether it be male or female!
I made both cards exactly the same except for the colour pallet. I’ll apologise now for the bad lighting in the photos, the sun hasn’t cooperated here in Ireland for a few days so I had to work with what I had! First I cut two panels to 4.25″ x 5.5 – one from Kraft cardstock and one from Neenah Solar White (I actually cut this one slightly larger so I could trim where it suited. On the white card, I used the Hero Arts Abstract Waves Stencil for both card bottom panels. I coloured half of the panel(using a bit of blue tape to cover the area I wanted to keep white) with Tumbled Glass and Twisted Citron Distress Ink. Then, I did the same procedure for the other side using Mustard Seed and Twisted Citron Distress Inks.
On the white card, I used the Hero Arts Abstract Waves Stencil for both card bottom panels. I used my Ink Dusters to cover half of the panel (using a bit of blue tape to cover the area I wanted to keep white) with Tumbled Glass and Twisted Citron Distress Ink. Then, I did the same procedure for the other side using Mustard Seed and Twisted Citron Distress Inks. I continued to blend until I was happy with the results.
For the balloons, I used Lawn Fawn Party Ballons and several small scraps that were on my desk from previous projects. In fact, I chose the balloon colours first, then decided on the background colours to compliment them. I tied a bit of silver string (that I got in a now sold out My Monthly Hero kit from Hero Arts) around the bottom of the balloons and used a bit of Multi Matte Medium (it dries clear!) along the bottom to keep them from fraying all over the place. I adhered the balloons with a tape runner.
On the Kraft panels, I used Versamark Watermark Ink and two different size circle stamps from Simon Says Stamp It’s No Secret stamp set and stamped various circles on the panel (keeping in mind about where I intended to stamp my sentiment.) I then used my absolute FAVOURITE Deep Blue ink from a sold out My Monthly (May 2017) Hero Kit from Hero Arts to stamp the greeting from a Neat & Tangled Celebrate stamp set. I felt it needed something more but I was dumb and didn’t buy the coordinating dies for this stamp set, so there wasn’t so much I could do. You can’t see it very well (did I mention the sun not cooperating??) but in the end I traced the word Celebrate with a clear Wink of Stella pen to give it a bit more pop and I was happier with that. 🙂
I cut down the Kraft cardstock and stencilled background to fit an A2 card base and lined up the rest of the sentiment diagonally, and using the Misti, stamped that in the same Deep Blue ink. I also used the Misti Creative Corners to make sure my sentiment was going to stamp straight. After I had the sentiments stamped, I used foam tape on the backside of both panels and adhered to my card base.
On the envelopes, I stamped these cheeky sentiments using the Reverse Confetti Fancy Word Coordinates. And that’s all I have for you today! Thanks for stopping by and…
See Y’all next time!
