Wish Big Birthday Card

Hello and welcome to my blog. Today I have a birthday card featuring the cutest elephants from Lawn Fawn’s Elphie Selfie stamp set. This set has so many cute images and sentiments that I had a hard time deciding what design to try out first. I decided to try to keep it simple to let those sweet critters shine!

I used an A2 card base and used Inkylicious Ink Dusters to blend Twisted Citron with a bit of Mowed Lawn for the grass, and Spun Sugar with a hint of Word Lipstick Distress Inks to create a soft sky. BTW I have to say here that this is the first time I’d ever tried the Ink Dusters and I am in LOVE!!! They are amazing and I really like the soft, beautifully blended looks you can create. If you are having trouble with your current ink blenders, give these babies a go…I highly recommend them. Ok, back to the card. 🙂 After I was happy with the blending, I flicked a few water drops and blotted with a paper towel to distress a bit. I coloured in some my little critters and accessories with my Zig Clean Color markers and blended with a water brush.  I didn’t love the way the grey critters came out so on those I used Prima Marketing Watercolor Pencils and a water brush to get the look I wanted. I also added Wink of Stella and Glossy Accents to the balloons. While I loved the cute pennant banner stamp that comes in the set, I decided to use a much bigger banner from Lawn Fawn’s Extra Sentiment Banners. I cut that from white card and blended yellow ink on it, then heat embossed my sentiment. I wanted to pop the banner up on foam tape so I needed something more substantial that a hand-drawn pole, so I cut a toothpick in half and wrapped my banner around it, sealed it with a bit of glue, then adhered that to the card base. I popped the small elephant, the mouse, banner, and balloons up with foam tape and glued the rest directly to the card base.

I felt like the background needed just a bit more so I used Spun Sugar to stamp a few of the teenie-tiny hearts (that are also included in the set) in the pink sky to add some interest but not be too overwhelming. And, that was that card done!

Thanks for stopping by today…see Y’all next time!
