Watercolour Stamping Bunny Baby Card

Welcome back, crafty friends! Today I have a second card that I made using a watercolour stamping technique with Mama Elephant Brush Strokes stamp set. (To see the previous post, and for more information on how to create that card click here.) The images I used on this card are from Mama Elephant’s New Family stamp set. I adore these sweet little bunnies and I’ve used them several times in the past (I admit to having a slight bunny obsession.)

I created the background and the heart topper pretty much the same way as the Bicycle Birthday Card except I used Cracked Pistachio and Mermaid Lagoon Distress Inks to “watercolour.” I stamped the cute, little bunny images (as well as some of the baby accessories that come in the stamp set, not all of which I used) and coloured everything in with Copic markers. I then used a pencil to trace around the outer edge of a heart die (from a nesting hearts die set) onto watercolour paper so I knew the approximate size of card I would have to cover with colour. I created an ombre kind of look using mostly Squeezed Lemonade but added a bit of Wild Honey at the bottom where it’s darker and has a bit of orange. I put both pads directly onto my glass mat and added a bit of water before using a large brush to draw lines of colour across my heart. I kept adding more and more water as I moved toward the top of the heart so that the ink would gradually fade to just the barest hint of yellow. After that air dried (you can use your heat tool if you want) I used that same die to cut out my painted heart, added faux stitching with a glaze gel pen, and then I adhered all of my sweet, coloured bunnies to the stitched heart (the two little ones were popped up with foam tape). I then added the heart to my card base using foam tape.

I added my sentiment to the panel using my Misti (I didn’t want to risk messing it up at this point!) and Versafine Onxy Black ink. Last, I selected a few sequins to add a bit of interest and that was it!

I love how both of the cards turned out and I can’t wait to go through my stash and find other stamps I can use with this technique.

I’m submitting this card to Seven Hills Crafts Monthly Craft Challenge and Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge.

Thanks for stopping by today and I’ll see Y’all next time!
