Hello, crafty friends and thanks for stopping by today. I know its been ages since my last card post and I am so happy you’ve either returned – or found me for the first time. You are very welcome! 🙂 Now, onto today’s card.
I made these cards for the special women in my life for Mother’s Day, but really, this design and sentiment can be used for a variety of occasions. I love this gorgeous Blooms ‘N Buds stamp set from Reverse Confetti. I didn’t buy the matching die set but now I’m kicking myself because I can tell I’m going to be using this fab set a lot. Guess I’m going to have to make that purchase soon!

I gathered a variety of pretty Spring coloured Distress and Altenew Crisp Inks and got to stamping lots of different blooms and a selection of leaves. I fussy cut them out one night while I was just sitting and watching tv since I didn’t have the matching dies. In the meantime, I did a bit of ink blending with Distress Inks on the front panel so there would be a bit of colour and interest behind my flower bouquet. You can’t see it very well in the photos but I put a few water droplets for texture then gave the bottom half of the panel a spritz of Perfect Pearls mixed in a mini mister spray bottle. Then I laid out my flowers they way I wanted and simply used clear tape (on the backside) to hold them together. I used foam tape on the back of the bouquet to add some dimension to the card (and it further helps keep the flowers arranged the way I like.)
For the sentiment, I used a great die set from Neat & Tangled called Journaling Alpha Die. I love that the letters are a bit more narrow (but tall so you can still read them!) I find you can fit a lot of letters on a card and it still looks clean, modern…and legible! 🙂 I used cut them out of white card and then used the same purple ink (I stamped some of the flowers in) to blend colour onto the letters so they matched perfectly. For the heart, I didn’t have any dies that were thin enough to work with the letters, so I created my own just like we all did in our school days – I folded a piece of card in half and cut out half the heart so it would be symmetrical. After I blended colour on the heart with a blending tool, I added some polka dots using a metallic gel pen. I went over the letters and the heart (very carefully so as not to pull and bleed the ink!) with my Wink of Stella pen to give it even more sparkle. Last, I heat embossed the rest of the sentiment on black card and also added to the panel with foam tape.
I should note that I made 5 of these cards, all with different colour combinations for the flowers, background, and sentiment. But, I was in such a hurry to get them to the recipients on time (what’s new?) I totally forgot to get pictures. I borrowed this one from my mother in-law Sorry about that!
I’m submitting this card to Seven Hills Crafts Monthly Craft Challenge.
Well, that’s all I have for today… see y’all next time!
