Vintage Plane Thank You Card Gift Folder

Hello, everyone! I’m back today and, as promised, I have the details for the folder that you can use to gift a card set as I showed in this post featuring Thank You cards for my cousin to give her attendees at her recent baby shower. I looked up several different layouts and prototypes online and found that this version, with modified measurements worked best for my purposes. Often, when giving a card set as a gift, you won’t just have the one size card as I did, but it might include a few large cards, a few matching note cards, and perhaps also some gift tags. I did a lot of math…and a few mock-ups (because I don’t trust my math) to figure out what sizes to use for the folder and the holder for the cards within.

I’m sorry I don’t have any pictures of the inside as I was in a rush to finish this project in time before I headed back to the US and gave this to my cousin. The inside has a this holder the width of the folder that has enough room to hold 10 A2 cards and their coordinating envelopes. It looked like the inside of the example folder with the exception of the additional card size holders. I increased the size of the card holder to accommodate such a large quantity of cards.
Here are the measurements I used for this folder:
Cut two pieces of card: one to 10.5″ x 6.5″ and the other to 8″ x 5.5″.
On the bigger piece, score lines along the long side at 4.5″and 6″ to create the outer folder.
On the smaller piece, score lines along the long side at .75″ and 7.25″. Also score along the short side at 2″and 3.5″.
Decorate the front panel of the larger piece (that will become the actual folder) with coordinating dies, stamps, patterns, etc.
Then, use your fixative of choice to adhere each (shorter) end of the small piece (which will be the actual holder that sits inside the folder). I used super strong red tape. Attach to newly made box to the folder so the cards will fit inside.
For the larger piece (the part that will make the outer folder), attach a piece of riboon horizontally on the top panel, affixing the ribbon on top of itself on the inside of the flap. Then adhere the ribbon vertically on the front of the panel just above the first ribbon, leaving yourself enough ribbon to tie a pretty bow to keep the folder shut. (You can also use velcro, magnets, etc to keep the folder shut instead of the ribbon.)
If you are finding these instructions a bit confusing without pictures, please refer to this video and detailed pictures of the example I used to make this folder.
This folder will be great for making gifts for family and friends of my card designs. Its also a good way to get your cards out to potential customers that you may not be sending them to!
